I grew up in this house. It was mortgaged by my mother. The huge tree in the front yard clogged up the pipes all the time and made the basement smell like poop. Sometimes we would sit on the sofa and the lights would cut off by themselves or the front door would open. Our yard wrapped around from the front to back so we would always spend most of the day outside. My little sister would climb the tree and sit in it for hours. The house brings mostly bad memories of my mother's past so I don't like to talk about some of the things that happened. When I was 12 yrs. old, the house was foreclosed and we went to live with my grandmother. I have never went back since.

The property I would like to discuss is a property that we own in Pocomoke City, MD. We have done some research on the property and find that it was built in approximately 1895 and was first utilized as a local hotspot for "drummers" traveling through town to sell their wares. I understand that Pocomoke City was known for being a bustling town located on the Pocomoke River and the residents at the time were known for being a tough bunch of individuals that did their share of brawling. The "Parker House" was the name of the hotel and we have been able to find some old postcards with photographs that we have copies of. We initially bought the property with plans of renovating it to its original condition but find that our reach has exceeded our grasp given the current economy. I would love to see this building restored so if anyone has any ideas or interest in taking on a project like this let me know your ideas. We would be creative with terms (financing, trade, etc) to do what we could to make it possible for someone to restore this unique property.

I lived there from 1995-2009. Rosemary Hills (the neighborhood) was a great place to grow up, very peaceful but not out in the middle of nowhere kind of suburb. You could take the Metrobus or Ride-on to downtown Silver Spring in less than 10 minutes. Our house was a traditional colonial-style post-WWII house, 2-stories, on 8704 Milford Ave. The dining room had a pretty chandelier: 4 lamps with small leaf/organic detail around the base of the chandelier, and it gave out a nice warm orange-gold glow. The attic was bizarre in that past occupants must have nailed down a plastic electric fire (meaning it was a plastic shape of logs with an orange light underneath it, ca. 1960's-70's) and it was nailed to the rafter and we could never get it off. The hum of the attic fan was so comforting in the summer too. The kitchen was really cramped, and our basement flooded periodically, but it was where i spent 14 years of my life and I will always call it my home. I have since moved a few months ago to an old house (built 1918) in East Silver Spring (originally known as Silver Spring Park) and this house is beautiful but will never replace the spot of 8704 Milford Ave. in my heart.
