| Work | My great grandparents owned the house then passed it on to my grandparents. We lived with my grandparents off and on while my dad was overseas. My great grandfather was a farmer & somewhat involved in politics with his family. My grandfather was a businessman, farmer, and politician. My father was in the Army. |
| Changes to House | My great grandparents updated the house during the 60's, They removed the upstairs balcony and removed the gingerbread railing from the lower porch. The stairs were originally entered from the center of the house but they moved them and now when you enter the front door, the steps are straight ahead. Some other updates such as plumbing and modernizing bathrooms. |
| Memory | I lived there for a year here and 6 months there as a child and then again for a year when I was in in college. As a child, I loved the huge oak trees out front and the swing hanging from one of them. I loved the porcelain knobs on the heavy wooden doors and the bead board in the kitchen. There was history everywhere. The mantel in the main front room was an ornately carved cherry masterpiece. When my grandmother sold the house, it was not a part of the sale and my dad has it now. |
| Other Information | When my grandfather died, my grandmother stayed in the house for a while then sold it. When we visit Clarksville, we always drive by. There have been several changes made since then and I believe the upstairs was turned into an apartment with a separate entrance. |

from white to celery green, filled in
"hole" to garage with dirt/grass, new landscaping, new front door/storm
door, new roof, new cedar shudders, porch rebuilt with slate tile,
replaced plastic siding on eaves with cedar shake shingles, removed
half circle window on right side with double paned rectanglular window,
replaced/ took out all windows in side/back "sunroom" and split into
three rooms (closet, laundry, art studio in back), tore down one
garage, rescreened porch, took down most lattice in back and side...

Walking in to a
totally different house than it is
today. There were shop lights hanging in the kitchen for light. Lots of
demo and remodeling! Wonder who built it, first person who purchased
it, etc. We think the mother of the previous owner was the first buyer
of the home. He added on/remodeled the home in 1991.

I have only been
renting this home and I want to find
out the history of it. It was built in 1896. I'm just interested in
finding out who lived there and when, and also if there are any
photographs of this home through the years. I recently discovered a
brick walkway in the back yard that had been covered up for I don't
know how long. It runs from the steps of the back porch all the way
through the back yard. I wonder if there was another house or something
that this walkway went to? Anyway, I'm just wanting any and all
information I can find.
